here's a long shot of a couple of current ideas floating around the studio. the cast corn circle is something i've dabled with before but this time they are aluminum instead of lead.
these are a set of combination dunkin, starbucks stereo speakers i cooked up from an old set of computer speakers that were being thrown away.
this is something of a pun. i am stacking the sleeves on this old breur(pronounced brewer) chair frame
here is the begining of the polished corn, i am going to try to cast more when i get a chance again soon.
this is the finished photo collage of the dam stuhltrager show, i am pretty happy with the way the photo collage turned out and will definitely explore doing more of these in time both as relics of future installations and other large things or spaces i want to photograph in parts and pieces.
this stir stick practice session piece has turned into an interesting and stable piece of it's own. I will continue to work on resolving it in the hopes that it will stand on it's own, no pun intended, as a static non installative object.
i feel like i haven't even caught my breath. i just found out the dates for a show i will be doing in the spring, and i am trying to finish up the water bottle works so i can photograph them and put them in a show in november...i think. I am trying to get a couple more applications out by November 1st deadlines, but as has been the case the more i do applications the easier they get to make since the information is already organized in one place. speaking of organizing information i am going to try and put together a proposal and maquette for a possible temporary outdoor public art piece(no it won't be stir sticks, this one will be metal). I am kind of looking forward to doing the drawings and models for that since i sort of like thinking of small work as studies for bigger work anyways. seems like a simple concept but sometimes deliberately making a scale model can be cool.
