Finished i think

Well I have reached a stopping point, or i have just reached the end of my time here. Like with anything I could easily spend another month working on it, but I am satisfied with the point I got it to. Next Time I do this I will definitely go bigger and longer and try and get a show where I Can work on the piece for a month before the opening. I am actually really anxious to get back in the studio and get to work on some other/newer pieces and maybe finish the renovation of the studio. After six weeks of residencies ands being on the road I am looking forward to spending the next month in my own bed before I take off for vermont after a month at home

day 6ish

i miscalculated and there may be a day without sticks, but i will make up for it by working overtime when i get more sticks. i swear i will never under estimate the supplies needed for a piece again, next time i will know that i can weave 500 sticks an hour on a good day.

day 5ish

i forgot to upload yesterdays progress so here it is i will upload again tonight after I finish. the peices has taken an interesting turn.

day 4 of accessibility 10 more until the opening

I plowed through another several thousand sticks yesterday including an extended stint on top of the genie lift. Last night I gave my little slide talk and people here really seemed to laugh at my jokes. I realized that when i was giving my talk last night it was exactly one year to the date since my thesis show opened, and i began to reflect on how much shit has gone on in the year since, and then i got really tired and realized that as soon as the accessibility show finishes i am going to take a long nap so i can get ready for the next challenge, since i only have 28 days between the opening of accessibility and the beginning of the vermont studio center residency

for some reason i just laugh really hard when i look at this video

accessibility day 3

12,000 stir sticks down, 11 days to go, 42,000 stir sticks left, can he make it

goodbye ox-bow hello sumter accessiblity

My first night in sumter
i spent an hour or so getting warmed up saturday night
sunday i got started at noon just after brunch, this picture is from 2oclock, 2 hours down, 130 to go

my last night in my ox-bow studio

well i got really busy in the last couple of days of my ox-bow residency so here are the final farewell shots in my studio there. I am now in Sumter south carolina working on the next project. I am at the accessibility residency as one of the installation artists. Since I only have 13 days to make a piece i am putting all my eggs into one basket and i just going to weave stir sticks. I hope i can build the piece i am picturing, but i won't really know until i get a little further along. i started today around noon and will work all day everyday between now and the 27th, and whatever it ends up like is what it will be. Also in a wonderful bit of luck the host family that i am staying with are a bunch of musicians, and they have a drumset in their living room, and they love to play with people, so i am looking forward to some drumming breaks at some point during my time here.
