this is not an installation, this is a stack of magazine boxes stacked by me and owen premore

well november 9th is fast approaching. By this time next week I will be 30. Now although I don't usually talk art on this part of my website I felt it necesary to explain the differences between sculpture, painting, installation and photography. Here goes, painting is a medium related to the application of pigment onto a support, sculpture is a medium consisting of discrete objects, photography is a medium involving a photo process, INSTALLATION IS NOT A MEDIUM, INSTALLATION IS A WORD USED TO DESCRIBE SOME SORT OF ARTWORK THAT IS IN TRANSITION BETWEEN PAINTING AND SCULPTURE. this is important to understanding the art we see in galleries and museums today. i know for me it was confusing when I first heard the term installation, because it can also be used to describe the way in which a set of paintings is hanging in a gallery. Myself I just like the word art, it is broad enough to cover anything. other than that I spent today finishing up another suite of rust drawings for a client, tonight I will watch my name is earl with brooke and go to bed early because tommorow i have to de-install the charles krafft show at work.
